Best Local Eats (& Drinks): Ohio’s Three Rivers Wine Trail Edition

October 3, 2021

< back to blog

Ohio has been one of the top wine-producing regions in the United States since the 19th century, and today is home to more than 300 delicious wineries. Although the region lacks the global notoriety of California’s Napa Valley or France’s famous Bourdeaux region, the wines produced here do not lack the flavor or consistency to be solid competition for those wines. As someone who has enjoyed her fair share of wine around the world, in my honest opinion, those produced on Ohio’s Three Rivers Wine Trail are among some of the finest in the world.

Ohio, the 34th largest state in the United States by area, is located in the Midwest. The meaning of the name comes from the Iroquois language; It means great river. The state is highly developed in agriculture, technology and the health sector. Since Ohio is home to a large number of immigrants, it has traces of European and other ethnic groups in its culture. Especially since Cleveland is a region where Germans and Irish live intensely, the traces of these two cultures are clearly noticed there. It generally has a humid weather due to the rainfall in all seasons. In this region, where many productions are made, all kinds of meat are consumed and barbecue is a very popular activity. Due to its ecological structure and the surrounding rivers, it has many parks and gardens. We are sure that you will fall in love with the beauty of nature while you are here. It is one of the most important touristic states in terms of the abundance of historical and architectural monuments to be seen, where pleasant strolls can be made on the riverbanks, festivals, events and museums in different cities can be visited. It is nicknamed the ‘Buckeye State’ due to its historical reputation for its Buckeye trees. There also happens to be over 280 commercial wineries operating in Ohio, and there are five designated American Viticultural Areas partially or completely located within the state.

Today we are going to be taking a closer look at those along Ohio’s Three Rivers Wine Trail.

Immerse yourself in the moment for a special day out on the Ohio Three Rivers Wine Trail. There are 7 wineries and one brewery here. These are: Baltic Mill Winery, Indian Bear Winery & Lodge, Rainbow Hills Winery & Inn, Raven’s Glenn Winery & Restaurant, Stone Crest Vineyard, Wooly Pig Farm Brewery, Yellow Butterfly Winery, and YOLO Winery. Each is a short, scenic drive from the largest town on the Three Rivers Wine Trail, Coshocton.

As part of your wine tasting, you can taste a selection of delicious wines and then purchase your favorites after. If you want to try these wines as a delicious feast, you can cheer up your stomach with a light meal. Imagine a wonderful summer evening. With your friends or loved ones, you can try delicious wines in a converted flour mill or a large yellow barn and accompanied by grilled steaks. A unique experience awaits you on the Ohio Three Rivers Wine Trail. This unique experience will turn into unforgettable moments for you with live music in some restaurants.

As we mentioned, you don’t just have to try wine on the Ohio Three Rivers Wine Trail. There is also a brewery here. While you’re in Coshocton County, fill your glass with a nice selection of homemade beers at the Wooly Pig.
