Ultimate Guide to Coastal Mississippi’s Cruisin’ The Coast

September 27, 2021

< back to blog

This October, you won’t want to miss the 25th Annual Cruisin’ The Coast event on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. With so much to see and do over the week, today we’re going to share with you everything you need to know about the event. There’s something for everyone to enjoy during Cruisin’ The Coast, so we highly encourage you to start planning your visit as soon as possible to make the most of this annual event.

When is Cruisin’ The Coast Taking Place in 2021?

Cruisin’ The Coast returns from October 3-10, 2021. It’s the 25th annual event and welcomes back many of your favorite activities and events from past years. The event began back in 1996 and started off as a celebration of antique, hot road, and classic vehicles, as well as nostalgic music and other similar events. The event has expanded year after year since this date and now attracts car enthusiasts from across the country and the world. Car fanatics descend on the Mississippi Gulf Coast each year to cruise along the 30-mile stretch of beach-side highway, where there are designated spots to stop at. At each stage, you’ll find a mini festival, with plenty to keep you entertained all week long.

Where to Stay for Cruisin’ The Coast

The great thing about the event’s location is that there is no shortage of accommodation on offer, and there are choices to fit all budgets and preferences. However, we do recommend booking as soon as possible for the event this year, as some of the more popular resorts and hotels in the area book up quickly. When you book your rooms through MS Gulf Coast Hotel Reservations, you’ll receive a free window decal. Call them on 1-888-388-1006 to take advantage of this offer and to discuss the accommodation options for the week.

Event Highlights

The week is jam-packed with different events, and it all kicks off on Sunday, October 3. These are just a few of the highlights of the week that you won’t want to miss during your visit.

Sunday, October 3

On the first day of the event, you can view the cruise between 8 am and 5 pm in Downtown Gulfport. There’s also a cruise-in event at the Hardy Court Shopping Center, and you can finish off the night by watching Grease 2 at the drive-in movie theater at 6:30 pm.

Monday, October 4

Registration package pick-up begins on this day for individuals with last names between A-K at Cruise Central in Gulfport. You’ll also find on-site registration at the same location. The Long Beach Parade will take place at 5:30 pm today, and up to 600 cars can register for this from 1 pm at Long Beach High School. Finish off the night with The Tip Tops, who will be playing at Long Beach Harbor between 6 pm and 9 pm.

Tuesday, October 5

Registration package pick-up continues today with individuals with last names between L and Z. Other highlights of this day include Autocross, Salute To Our Veterans, and the Margaritaville Cruise-In. Tonight, don’t miss the flame-throwing competition at Island View Casino in Gulfport or consider heading to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum to see KISS on the End of the Road World Tour.

Wednesday, October 6

By the middle of the week, events are taking place all day long in many venues. Expect to visit The Vicari Auto Auction Memorabilia Extravaganza at the Coast Coliseum or the Biloxi Block Party, which has various appearances throughout the day. Tonight you’ll enjoy the Official Beau Rivage Cruisin’ Event, which takes place between 6 pm and 10 pm at the Beau Rivage Casino Resort.

Thursday, October 7

The majority of the sites have bands playing today, so it’s the perfect day to get out and explore the various stops on the route. Start your morning with the Country Cruisin’ Breakfast at the Long Beach Yacht Club, and then head to the Coast Coliseum for the Vicari Auction’s CTC Swap Meet. The Biloxi Cruise-In has guest appearances throughout the day and night, including Christy Lee, Courtney Hansen, and Dennis Gage. Don’t miss The Beach Boys tonight at Beau Rivage from 8 pm.

Fantastic Friday, October 8

It’s another busy day on Fantastic Friday, and you won’t be short of entertainment at any of the stops on the route. The Ocean Springs Sock Hop & Street Party takes place tonight, starting at 5:30 pm, or you could head to Pass In The Night at Pass Christian from 6:30 pm. All of the closing acts tonight at all seven of the block parties will be in celebration mode, so make sure you stay out to join in all of the festivities.

Super Saturday, October 9

This afternoon, a fly-by will take place at 2 pm, in association with The Mississippi Aviation Heritage Museum. It will begin in Ocean Springs and continue to Bay St. Louis along Highway 90. Tonight, The Legends of Motown are joining us for a free event at 7 pm at the Hollywood Casino Resort, which is held in honor of the 25th anniversary of the event. It will also include fireworks and an anniversary cake, so make sure you add this event to your schedule.

Sunday, October 10

After the celebrations of last night, you might be heading home today, but there are still a few things you won’t want to miss. The Cruisin’ The Coast Finale Ceremonies will take place at 9 am this morning, and we’ll also see the winners of the Gene Oswalt Volunteer of the Year Award and the cash drawings announced. Stick around until lunchtime to enjoy the last of the live entertainment and to say goodbye to the new friends you’ve met during the week.

For more information about registering for Cruisin’ The Coast, head to the event website. You’ll also find the full event schedule and more accommodation information here, which will help you to plan the perfect week at this annual event on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
